Periodontology

What is Periodontitis ?
The Periodontitis or periodontal disease or pyorrhea , is a bacterial infection that attacks the periodontium , which is formed from the gums, bone and other tissues supporting the teeth . As often painless , it can happen that you realize periodontal disease only when the gums and bone are already seriously compromised : it is the most common cause of tooth loss in adults.

What ' is the cause ?
The Plaque is the main cause.

What is plaque ?
It is a yellowish-white film composed of bacteria and food debris , which is deposited on the surface of the teeth , especially near the gingiva. If not regularly removed PLATE (toothbrush etc . ) , It hardens into a rough limestone formation called TARTAR . Tartarus makes it even more difficult to remove plaque daily . The bacteria in plaque release toxins that inflame the gums , bone and other supporting tissues of the tooth.

Treatment of periodontal disease
In the cases at an early stage the removal of plaque and tartar above and subgingival can stop periodontal disease . Repeated control and prevent constant recurrence. Surgery is the last resort. The purpose of periodontal surgery is to recreate the anatomical and biological conditions of a healthy gingiva through the correction of bone defects and mucogingival : the slow process of deterioration of the gums in fact accentuates the risk of tooth decay , which can be stopped with proper prevention and by treatment of the root of the teeth ( smoothing ) and in the case by means of bone regeneration (GTR) and gum .
